ARIES
Aries is the union of creative principles such as Earth and Sky, Female and Male. This can be seen in the aesthetic relationship between the sofa seat, which with its elliptical, harmonious, and at the same time enveloping shape represents feminine grace and lightness, and the backrest, a virile and dynamic image whose lines of force reflect the masculine principle.

Elliptical seat: high-thickness beech plywood structure. Padding: high-density shape-retaining polyurethane covered with protective fabric. Backrest in polyurethane foam with internal steel structure. Feet in painted solid beechwood. All parts are removable.

I was born on January 1, 1954, in Ceglie Messapica, in the province of Brindisi, and I have been living in Sesto Fiorentino since 1982. After earning diplomas as an Art Master and as a Surveyor, at different times, I enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture in Florence in 1985 and graduated with top marks in 2000.
After graduating, I had professional experience in the technical studios of some of my university classmates and, with one of them, took part in the competition for the stations of the Florence Micrometro, ranking among the 30 projects selected for exhibition at Palazzo Pitti out of 130 entries in 2001.
However, despite these experiences and the love I have for architecture, I realized that this field did not leave enough room for my creative side. That was when I began approaching the world of design, up until December 2006. At that time, I met Mr. Benito Giovannetti and presented my ideas to him. Among them, one sofa was selected: Aries. A prototype was immediately created and exhibited at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2007.
Aries attracted the interest of AD magazine, where it was featured in more than one issue. The same magazine later published the design for the VENUS sofa in its September 2012 issue. Since then, my collaboration with Giovannetti Collezioni has continued. The people leading the company have repeatedly shown interest in other projects of mine, and with them I have also enjoyed valuable exchanges of ideas, both artistically and personally.
My design philosophy has often met with appreciation within the Giovannetti environment, and in other fields as well; it is a philosophy in which the artistic and sculptural aspect often prevails over the functional one. In 2008, I was invited by the supervisor of my thesis, Professor M. Cardini, to collaborate with him as an assistant at the Industrial Design Institute in Calenzano, in the Drawing course. This academic experience continued until 2011.
